On a personal note; Alaska in the destination that changed my life forever. In 1997, I celebrated my 5th year working on board and decided to go back home and have a "normal life", so for my final contract I chose Alaska. On my first Alaska cruise, departing Vancouver on a 7-day Alaska cruise, we visited Glacier Bay, and as the Captain was "gliding" the ship through the Bay, my tension and anticipation grew rapidly, as it was a gorgeous morning so far, and we were all on open deck enjoying the view. Finally, we got near the massive glacier, and the Captain were able to bring the ship so close that we could almost touch the glacier, and at that point, it donned on me that I was meant to be here and this (cruising) is and should be my life, so that evening, I contacted the head office and informed them that I will be back. On my next contract, I met Maria, my future wife.
